Well this is it! 134 gruelingly long days later, my adventure is finally beginning! I am now offically a sister missionary of The Church of Jesus Chirst of Latter-Day Saints. I feel there is no hope left for me at untying the knots in my stomach. 18 months of my life are now cramped, stuffed, squeezed, and very much resembling a can of sardines, and I applaud my suitcases for holding it all together. Frantically scrambling around trying to find your passport days before leaving is never a good recipe for composure. I never thought I would see the day that I would be getting showed up by inanimate objects.
I can't tell you how excited I am for this new chapter! I love this gospel so much and now I get to show it! Im sure my spirit will be in for a treat when I enter the MTC and begin spiritual bootcamp. As much as I hate to say it, my spirit is out of shape. She's a heavy sucker and goodness knows she needs a workout. 9 weeks in the MTC is what I got to get into shape, (let's hope in both aspects), but let's face it- with a "stuff till you puff" meal plan, no promises are being made! Stretchy skirts, please be nice to me.
I know I'm headed into one of the hardest adventures of my life, but I also know that it will be the best, most gratifying and life changing adventure. How lucky am I to have the opportunity to leave my family for only 18 months so that others can be with theirs for an enternity? How lucky am I that I get to come closer to the Lord than I ever have been, and to learn, grow, and teach by the power of the spirit? I want to be a great missionary; a missionary that forgets herself and goes to work. A missionary that doesn't make her companion think of out of the box ideas for ending the misery....biting off tongue, ripping off fingernails, ripping out left rib and using it as a saber... (sorry, very disturbingly dark inside joke).
I can't wait to share all the gritty details of my mission stories! And a friendly shout out to my awesome, beloved sister for taking on the blog for me while I'm gone! Couldn't do this without ya, sis!
I am ready to serve, let's get er done!
