Week 60- JUNE- Poopa

Well the tear jerker wins the prize. Poopa, YOU WIN THE PRIZE. It's doesn't take much for this daughter to pull out the tissues when thinking of her dad. I want you to know dad.....i have noticed. I've noticed everytime im driving and my windshield is clean, or when my windshield wippers have been changed. I've noticed when im woken up on an early morning to the alarm of a lawn mower right outside my window. I notice the smell of Saturday morning to your "secret ingrediant" french toast. I noticed when i had my night terrors (hate to say how old i was) and you slept on the couch for a month while i slept with mom. I noticed when you would naturally turn into the turning lane when we were driving past Wendy's to get a frosty. I noticed how happy and excited i was when i was getting gas for the car and to look over and see my dad across the street at a red light driving Lil' Blue. I noticed all those clean dishes. I noticed when you would let me come up to your office in Yosemite so that i could sell all those girlscout cookies, and you did all the delivering...I noticed how you are the only one in the family who doesn't like flavored beef in their tacos...and your passion for tacos. I noticed all the long night road night trips, when i would try to stay up as long as i could to say, "Im here for ya pops." 10 minutes later....OUT. I notice when you laugh and how your eyes crinkle in that oh so memorable way. I noticed when you got up on that table during our family reunion and started to do your "rolly" dance. I noticed every time your children would challenge you to a brawl the beast and the "knuckles" would come out. I noticed how every morning you were not mowing the lawn, already left for an early day at work, or at Walmart to buy more milk, you were in your leather chair...reading your scriptures, and ALWAYS with a highlighter. I notice your love for the outdoors. I noticed how you would always have my favorite mints with you at church. I noticed how happy i was whenever i would see you walking up to the house from work. I noticed your passion for coconut cream pie with EXTRA whipped cream. I noticed your love for this Gospel. I noticed your testimony, that you don't just have it...you live it. I noticed that you will do anything and sacrifice anything for your children. I noticed that you don't like it when you two youngest girls are loud and laughing in a bed at 1:30 am as you try to sleep in a house with paper thin walls. I noticed how YOU noticed that your children don't particularly enjoy watching their parents make puckering and making kissy sucking noises. *shudder* I noticed all the drives you would make to Panguich to support grandma. I noticed how you would take a bowl of dry dog food, then hot water, then canned dog food, to make a delicious breakfast for the dogs. I noticed your hate for shedding dog hair. I noticed that you have finally accepted the term "Poopa." I noticed how you look like a 10 year younger version of Elder Oaks. I noticed how you look DANG GOOD in robins egg blue. I noticed your passon for western movies. I noticed your love for head massages. I noticed your spuratic craves for a burger king whopper. I noticed how money would "magically" appear in my account and magically "dissapear" from yours. I notice how happy you make mom when you compliment her or call her up for a "white stallion" date. I noticed your love for blasting concerts on DVD. I noticed your half whistles, just like grandpa. I notice your forest rainbow wardrobe. And most importantly...i notice your love for me.
What really jerks at the heart is....what have i not noticed? How many things have gone unthanked for? Unnoticed? The list would be longer than time allows to write. Thanks dad, for all the things noticed and unnoticed i just want to say thank you. I love you poopa.
Here you go dad, here's a little something i thought you would like, you Harley loving bad boy you: GET ER' DONE!

Well we had a great sports night this week with about 30 people there! For all of those who do not particularly enjoy soccer or any form of cardio sports, aka ME, we got to enjoy a heated game of badminton, watch out world, Sister Roe is bring badminton back to the States with a fire. This park was a hidden gem and i give big brownie points to the Elder who found it. Though the mosquito bites i would prefer to be without. Bug bite #74. Check.
BIG NEWS!!! We got a....BAPTISMAL DATE!!  Second one of the mission and i think this one will go through! Ina is a angel. Im pretty sure we could tell you just about the deepest doctrinal secret and she would just nod her head, think of it, accept it, and move on. She came to church again yesterday, and is progressing just as smooth as butter. This week we taught her the Plan of Salvation and you should have seen how far her eyes popped out when we told her that Heavenly Father has a physical body. Her eye's popped, then she nodded, and moved on. I mean...hello prepared soul! When she came to church and i asked her how her week had been she immediatly when into wanting to talk about her reading assignment and started asking more questions about the Plan of Salvation. Oh Ina, the Celestial kingdom is going to love you. All three of us are so excited for July 12th!
MORE BIG NEWS! Come now, you didn't think the blessings ended there did you? We found a new investigator this week! Or more like, he found us. Or more like a referal who was given to us called us to give us a referal. A referal from a referal. I'll take that. His name is Roman and i dare say he is as equally buttery as Ina. Every commitment that's given to him he takes in a, "Well of course!" attitude. When we first met with him he had already done more research on the church than i believe even some members have done. We didn't know until after we watched the Restoration video with him that he had already, "been there, done that."  Then he told us of a dream he had. Now i know just as much as anybody, that people who have revelational dreams can sometimes be dangerous territory, but also know that prayers can be answered through dreams. 7 years ago Roman had  a dream where he was walking around in darkness and just feeling really lost. He tripped, he stummbled, he fell, he got back up and kept going. After a while he found a light. He walked towards the light and saw that they were words, "Seven years." Roman said that he knew that in 7 years he would find God. 7 years pass and his sister gives him a call saying to meet with the missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Ummm....yeah. God is awesome.
Another transfer has come to a close! Transfer 8 is gone and transfer 9 has begun! Our last district meeting of the transfer we all won prizes for our special attributes. (From left to right: Elder Hale-a money clip for being "money." Elder Webber- smiley faces for always...smiling? Elder Bro-got a picture of a giraffe...he's the one sleeping. Elder Porter-gloves for always being the helper. Sister Nikogosyan-cards for being the "jack of all trades". Sister Robertson-a heart for me a "heart working" sister. Me- a picture frame for always being the one who loves to capture "the moments." Sister Dryden- a box of star cereal for being a superstar)
I love serving in Perchersky. This ward has some of the biggest spiritual giants i have ever met. This week we met with an amazing family! The Tsigonkov family! They have got the sweetest hearts, the most delicious strawberry treat, and an adorable cat to boot! The father is not only a spiritual giant but a almost literal one, and his wife actually has a growth deformation, can you believe that and she comes to just his waist, but have just about the cutest relationship my eyes have ever seen.
I rolled up my sleeves and got down in to making tortillas for fajitas for lunch! My black skirt suffered the consequences but the taste was oh so worth it. Even the neighborhood butterfly came by for a whiff.
During a taxt drive we got as close to Maidan as we ever had since all of the events occuring. I could see the angel from independence square just downt he road and you can still find little barricades and memorials about every ten feet.

This has now become a nightly tradition during daily planning at the end of the day. Out comes the planners and the frozen vegetables. I have had to now label our edibal vegitables as "NOT FOR SISTER ROBERTSON'S KNEES." This particular day we just returned home from making an attempted birthday drop by to a bob (babushka). And this is how it went. We dialed the domaphone....*ringing*....*pick up*..."Hello Galina, it's the Sister Missionaries! Happy *click*....Birth...day....." We made sure to write "Protiv" (against) on the ward list.
This is our home sweet metro stop! I had a great moment coming up the escalator on this stop as 100 feet up the escalator came to a dead stop. Everybody looks around a little jummbled as to what just happend and then dreadingly look up....400feet....not wanting to accept reality. For a good minute or so we all just stood there....waiting. I could help but start muffling some laughter as i thought of a youtube video when a man was "trapped" on an escalator. He yelled for help, waiting for help, but none would come. It really is one of the most hilarious things to see that reality come across thier eyes as they realized, "you mean i have to WALK?" And so we walked, and walked, and walked and waaaaalked. I do feel bad for the babushki though. Reaching the top the air was filled with body oder and heavy breathing and a swarm of babushki yelling at a metro security guard. I actually feel so blessed because this is my favorite metro stops of them all. Every day the sidewalk is filled with babuski selling their produce and freshly slaughtered chickens. The air is always filled with the scent of fruit, dill, pickled vegetables and ciggarette smoke. I love it. Our home is just a 10 minute walk up the street, just past the slaughter house and just down from the 24 hour kareoke mafia club!

I hope you all had a great week! Remember to capture the moments, count your blessings, and tell you dad Happy Fathers Day!

XOXOXOXO
